Well, the apple study I did on a canvas that was painted black and also I think primed with rabbit skin glue. It was actually some sort of throaway canvas that someone else used before me. I remember it being sticky so it must have been rabbit skin glue.

the apple study is my #1; what materials did you use? i mostly ask because the texture/reflective properties of the background mystifies me!

Then I just used oils with liquin as a medium.
